It’s officially summer right?! Whenever July comes round the corner I always feel like Summer has officially started. We’re definitely having more warmer days here in London so I wanted to continue making some cute dresses to add to my summer wardrobe and have chosen these items to make below for July!
Gathered Dress
Last month I made the Tilly and The Buttons Indigo Dress and fell in love with gathering! I’ve had the idea of making a self-drafted gathered dress for a while now and after making the Indigo I realised there were a few things I wished were different, so I’m currently in the process of making my second pattern – The Rhea Dress! It’s going to be a V-Neck gathered dress that will be a pullover style, so no need for zips and it will have lots of movement and comfort! I’m thinking a nice summer floral will work perfectly!

Sequin Dress
So I want to enter Sewistandthecity challenge of making something inspired by the Great British Sewing Bee series, and I was so inspired by Nicole’s orange dress in the finale which has that vibe of red carpet/Hollywood glamour and thought this is the perfect time to try sewing with sequins! She uses feathers and a few sparkles in her dress and I want to try using a sparkly fabric – I have no idea what the dress is going to look like or if I’ll try and hack a pattern or self draft something. But I’m excited to see what I come up with!

Scrunchies! Using leftover fabric
I have so many fabric scraps, I literally have a Tesco bag cramped full of weird cut pieces and I don’t know what to do with them! I’ve been thinking of making scrunchies and then I saw these Free People ones that use multiple fabrics in each scrunchie and I love the look of them!! I’ve also seen people piece fabric together and making tops out of scraps so I’m tempted to try this too!
