I love August, it’s the peak of summer in London and I normally find myself wearing a dress every day this time of year. Dresses are hands down my most favourite thing to sew because I can just throw them on and my whole outfit is ready! I’ve been quite ambitious with my sewing plans this month and am hoping to sew these three dresses below!
Colour block dress
So last week I released my second sewing pattern The Rhea Dress and I am in love with this style! I can’t believe just how supportive everyone has been and I’m so thankful for your support. The Rhea Dress is a v-neck dress that has a gathered waist and ruffled hem. I really want to create a colour blocked version where the bodice and hem the same colour and then the skirt to be a different colour. I imagine this to be a staple summer holiday outfit that could transition nicely into autumn with a long sleeve jumper underneath, so super excited to try this out!
Sewing Patterns by Masin has just released her Sicily dress sewing pattern and I’ve been dying to try this out, as it’s all over Instagram at the moment and everyone’s versions look so stunning! I’ve never tried making a cowl neckline, so I’m really excited to see this one through! I’m in two minds of which fabric to make this up in, I’ve got a burgundy or a tie-dye satin fabric that looks super pretty so we’ll have to see which I fancy more!
I’ve been wanting to make The Peppermint Maxi Dress for a while now and have seen so many gorgeous versions made in different cottons/linens. I rarely sew with cotton but it’s such an easy fabric to handle and I thought this would be the perfect dress! I saw a great hack on Instagram where Lauren from @elbe_textiles added a lovely gathered skirt which adds so much drama! This is a free pattern too which is available to download on their website here if anyone is interested!
