September 2020 Sewing Plans

Does this mean summer is nearly over now it’s September? I’m still gonna make dresses though, so I don’t care what the weather is like! I love this time of year, it’s perfect to wear dresses with cosy jumpers and that’s exactly what I’m planning on making!

Slip dress

Okay, so I made this Sicily slip dress last month and was so in love with the pattern that I knew I wanted to try and make a shorter version! I have this gorgeous satin fabric in my stash that I want to use and it’s only 1.5 meters so I think I’ll be able to make a sexy number that’s mini length. I never knew how flattering a cowl neck would look on me and now I’m in loveee! If you’ve not tried this pattern by Sewing Masin I highly recommend it’s a very quick sew and super easy to follow along to.

Cosy jacket

Next up on my list this month is going to be to sew a cosy jacket/jumper piece that I can wear with my dresses. I now work from home full-time so I feel like I can be more comfortable with my clothing pieces and still look stylish! I actually made the Berlin Jacket by Tessuti Fabrics earlier this year but my sewing has improved drastically since I made that version and I want this to be made in boiled wool or a teddy bear style fabric that’s super cosy! I’m not sure what colour to make this in but I’m thinking a camel/brown shade that could go with a few dresses.

Staple turtleneck

Last but not least, I’ve always wanted to sew a simple turtleneck and this free pattern by Tessuti Fabrics looks amazing! I remember I downloaded this when I first started sewing and never got round to making one, so this September feels like the perfect time as I can wear this underneath dresses. I’m thinking of a staple black version for now and then making a few more in different colours over the next few months.
